Sonargaon

If you're ever wandering down High Road in Bushey and your stomach starts growling, there’s one spot that food lovers keep whispering about-Sonargaon. Tucked away at 55 High Rd, this unassuming Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant packs a serious punch when it comes to authentic flavour, warm hospitality, and dishes that make you feel like you’ve just been served in someone’s home kitchen-except with better lighting and wine.

Let’s talk about the food first, because that’s the real star here. One of the go-to dishes-Chicken Biryani-is anything but average. It's aromatic, generously portioned, and cooked to perfection with spices that gently linger on your palate. Not too spicy, not too mild-just enough to make you come back for more. If you're more into something rich and creamy, the Chicken Tikka Balti hits all the right notes with its luscious gravy and tender chicken that melts in your mouth.

For those who love their food with a fiery kick, Chilli Paneer is a bold, flavour-loaded choice. It’s got crunch, heat, and a tangy edge that works like a charm with a side of Garlic Naan-soft, fluffy, and perfectly blistered in all the right places. And if you're eating with someone who leans towards vegetarian comfort food, Vegetable Korma or Methi Aloo won’t disappoint. Both dishes are hearty, satisfying, and tastefully spiced without being overpowering.

Now, Sonargaon doesn’t just stop at great food. They offer dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options, which makes it a go-to whether you’re planning a casual dinner out or just need something satisfying for a night in. And for solo diners, it’s refreshingly welcoming-not all restaurants get that vibe right, but this one does.

Accessibility is another highlight here. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, Sonargaon makes an intentional effort to be inclusive. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or flying solo, you'll feel taken care of from the moment you step in.

Drinks? Oh yes, they’ve got those too. From beer and wine to spirits and coffee, they’ve covered all bases. If you're into pairing a crisp beer with your spicy Tandoori Chicken or sipping a bold red with your Arroz Y Ternera (a dish that reflects Sonargaon's creative flair), you’re in luck. It’s not a full-scale bar, but the drinks list is thoughtful and curated to complement the menu nicely.

Speaking of Tandoori Chicken, it's smoky, succulent, and charred just enough to build that earthy, grilled character. It’s one of those dishes that can easily steal the show, especially when served with a side of basmati rice or naan. And while you're at it, don't skip dessert. Though not overly elaborate, the sweet offerings here are just the right note to end on-especially if you enjoy something light after a spice-rich meal.

One thing that consistently stands out in customer feedback is the staff’s attention to detail. Service is fast, friendly, and non-intrusive. They know the menu inside out and are always happy to help if you’re unsure what to pick-whether you’re a curry connoisseur or trying Indian-Bangladeshi cuisine for the first time.

For anyone searching “Indian restaurant in Bushey” or “best curry near me,” Sonargaon is bound to pop up, and for good reason. It delivers on flavour, hospitality, and comfort. You’ll find it ranks well for dinner in Bushey, especially for folks who appreciate high-quality food without the fuss of fine dining.

The vibe inside is relaxed and inviting. Not too loud, not too formal-just that perfect middle ground where you can settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Whether you're catching up with friends or need a quick solo dinner after work, it fits.

So next time you’re scrolling through delivery options or deciding where to eat in Bushey, remember this name: Sonargaon. It might just become your new favourite.

The food was tasty, and the service was very quick, which was great. However, I was a bit frustrated when the bill arrived without us even asking for it, and then the card machine was brought to us just two minutes later. I would have understood if the restaurant was busy or if there were people waiting for tables, but there was only one other table occupied at the time. It felt a bit rushed and left me with a poor impression, unfortunately. This experience has made me hesitant to return.

Don’t miss the Indian food in this country. This restaurant is specialised in Indian and Nepalese gastronomy, a discovery for someone too fond of the Spanish one (that I keep being a little bit). The food was excellent and the staff kind. We let them advise us on something not too spicy and they scored. I only missed more possibilities of red wine by glasses (Rioja, for example) and alcohol free beer was missed by others.

I first started eating at the Sonargaon at least 30 years ago when I lived in Bushey. I now live on the South Coast. The food there was always 1st Class. We recently came back to visit friends over Christmas and had another meal there. Absolutely superb quality food. Excellent staff. This restaurant shines against similar establishments. Well done Bashir, Ali and the team.Keep up the good work.
